Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & The Cultural Capital

  • Route: Airport to Pinnawala, then Kandy

  • Activities: Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, Spice Garden, Cookery demonstration

  • Overnight: Kandy

Arrive at Colombo International Airport and meet your Explore Lanka Travels agent. Transfer to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a conservation center home to nearly 100 rescued and orphaned elephants. Watch them bathing in the river before continuing toward Kandy. Stop en route in Hingula to visit a traditional spice garden, where you will enjoy an interactive spice tour and a traditional Sri Lankan cookery demonstration. Check into your hotel in Kandy.

Day 2: The Heart of Kandy
