Overnight: Kandy
Arrive at Colombo International Airport and meet your Explore Lanka Travels agent. Transfer to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a conservation center home to nearly 100 rescued and orphaned elephants. Watch them bathing in the river before continuing toward Kandy. Stop en route in Hingula to visit a traditional spice garden, where you will enjoy an interactive spice tour and a traditional Sri Lankan cookery demonstration. Check into your hotel in Kandy.
Day 2: The Heart of Kandy
After breakfast, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, the most important shrine in the Buddhist world. Explore Kandy town, its arts and crafts center, and the local gem museum. In the afternoon, visit the Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya, renowned for its diverse orchid collection and royal palms. Spend your evening enjoying a traditional cultural dance show.
Day 3: The Eighth Wonder of the World
Travel to Sigiriya and climb the 5th-century citadel built by King Kashyapa. Sigiriya is a remarkable feat of ancient engineering. Explore the landscaped gardens and ascend the stone stairways to the Lion Gate. In the afternoon, enjoy an excursion through a traditional Sri Lankan village, complete with a bullock cart ride, a three-wheeler ride, and a home-cooked lunch.
Day 4: Safari Adventures

Depart for Habarana to embark on a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park. Day 5: Urban Discovery in Colombo
Travel to Colombo, the commercial hub of Sri Lanka. Explore the city’s blend of colonial-era buildings and high-rise commercial structures. Visit landmarks like the clock tower and the BMICH. Spend the afternoon shopping in Colombo’s modern malls or navigating the bustling street markets of Pettah, where you can find everything from handicrafts to souvenirs.
Day 6: Coastal Living in Negombo
Travel to the coastal city of Negombo. Famous as a fishing hub, the city is lively with a variety of restaurants, shops, and pubs. Spend your time visiting the local fishing village to witness the thousands of traditional fishermen who operate here daily. Observe the indigenous methods used for drying and preserving the catch, then enjoy the evening on the beach road.
Day 7: Departure
Enjoy a final breakfast in Negombo before your transfer to the airport for your flight home, carrying the essence of Sri Lanka with you.
